For nearly 50 years, UPARC has provided a safe and secure refuge to people with developmental disabilities. In the fall of 2003, the State of Florida abruptly cut over $2M in critically needed funding. The majority of this funding cut was felt in UPARC'S residential programs. For the first time in over 45 years, persons served by UPARC faced the threat of losing their homes, their services and their very quality of life. As a result of this nearly catastrophic funding cut, in 2004 UPARC Foundation initiated a five year $9.3 million capital fundraising campaign called Secure the Future for UPARC. As of the Spring of 2007, over $6.5 million has been raised in both cash and pledges toward the campaign goal. Public funding for persons with developmental disabilities is limited, has been drastically cut in the last few years and continues to dwindle every year. Local waiting lists continue to grow, yet people currently served have immediate needs that will continue throughout their lifetimes. The successful completion of the Secure the Future Campaign will allow UPARC Foundation to provide a steady stream of increasing annual support for the daily operation of UPARC's programs and services. |

$7.3 Million - Programs and Services Support to UPARC |

These funds will supplement immediate needs on a daily and annual basis. Successful completion of this campaign goal will allow UPARC Foundation to provide up to a 5% annual increase each year of the campaign and in succeeding years. Completion of this goal will also allow UPARC to pay off 100% of its mortgage debt thus eliminating over $450,000 of mortgage interest. |
$2 Million - Secure the Future Fund for UPARC |

This fund will provide an annual revenue stream from invested funds directly to UPARC each year. Successful completion of this campaign goal will provide additional annual revenue to UPARC of up to $100,000. These supplemental funds will be used for client needs that have recently been disqualified for state funding reimbursements such as certain necessary medications, adult diapers, personal hygeine items and clothing. |
